GTA 6’s €400 collector’s edition: what is actually in the box

On September 24, 2026, Rockstar Games put its GTA 6 collector’s box on sale: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, priced at €399.99 / $399.99 / £349.99. It launches on November 19, 2026, the same day as the game. It does not include the game.

What is in the Vice City Collection?

Eleven items, all inspired by Macca the Gator, Leonida’s fictional TV show. The box measures approximately 48 x 34 x 32 cm and opens across three tiers.

Why the price is a problem

The sticking point is stated plainly on the product page: Grand Theft Auto VI game sold separately. The game costs an additional €79.99 for the standard edition. For a player who wants the box and the game, the total therefore exceeds €480.

Comparing these items with generic products does not establish the box’s exact value: to our knowledge, the Macca figure and Leonida poster, in particular, are not sold separately in the official store. The Oakley sunglasses and New Era cap have equivalents sold individually, but that does not put an individual price on the versions in this collection. The criticism is more about the gap between the €399.99 asking price and the absence of the game: everyone will have to decide whether the exclusivity and the items in the box justify that amount.

For comparison, GTA V’s collector’s edition in 2013 cost $149.99 and included the game, a Los Santos lockbox, a cap, a printed map and in-game content. Thirteen years later, Rockstar is asking 2.7 times as much for a package without the game.

A scam? A strong word, but the facts are clear

There is nothing deceptive about this offer: Rockstar lists all eleven items, makes clear that the game is not included, and nobody is forced to buy it. It is therefore not a scam in the strict sense.

It is, however, a scarcity-driven product, not a value-driven one. The box is limited, capped at one per customer, and sold out within hours in the UK and several other regions. Resellers snapped it up soon after, just as they had with the GTA 6 DualSense controllers. The price does not reflect the contents: it reflects demand.

It also fits a wider strategy. GTA 6 will not be released on disc. Rockstar is removing the physical object from the game itself, then charging €400 for a box of physical objects around the game, plus a soundtrack vinyl sold separately. Collectors are paying for tangible items, but no longer for the game’s physical medium.

Should you buy it?

If you specifically want the Macca figure or the Leonida poster, we have not found either sold individually on the Rockstar Store: as things stand, the box is the only official offer we have identified for those versions. If you want the complete box as a collectible, that is a deliberate choice, but the game still has to be purchased separately. If you just want to play GTA 6 on November 19, the standard edition is enough.
