The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been announced at this stage — Rockstar has never given it a release window, and no credible information allows a date to be assigned.

How many times has GTA 6 been delayed?

Twice. Here is the full history, with the date of each announcement:

The first GTA 6 trailer, released on December 4, 2023 (a day earlier than planned after a low-quality version leaked), promised a 2025 release. That window was later narrowed to “fall 2025” in Take-Two's financial communications. In May 2025, Rockstar announced an initial delay to May 26, 2026, followed by a second six-month delay in November 2025, setting release for November 19, 2026.

Each time, the reason given was the same: Rockstar requested extra polishing time, not time to resolve a production problem. One notable detail: unlike many industry delays, each GTA 6 delay came with a specific date, rather than another vague window.

Is a third delay still possible?

Nothing rules it out in principle, but all official signals point the other way. Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two CEO, reaffirmed the November 19, 2026 date in an official financial filing on July 17, 2026, and then again publicly. The tone of Take-Two's communications since the start of 2026 has been that of a locked-in launch, rather than a project in trouble.

Rockstar's communication schedule follows an identifiable pattern:

• Take-Two's quarterly results are when major announcements arrive: both delays were made official at these moments, making them the dates to watch for pre-orders and editions.
• The Rockstar Newswire and the studio's social channels publish trailers, visuals and official profiles — this is where the character profiles and screenshots appeared.
• The artist campaign launched on September 15, 2026 marks the start of the final stretch: ten artists — Travis Scott, Future, Yung Lean, PinkPantheress, Metro Boomin, Keith Richards, Morgan Wallen, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Rauw Alejandro and Fred again.. — unveiled six new artworks while tagging Rockstar in a coordinated effort. Their collaboration with Rockstar is confirmed; the exact format (radio, music, event) remains to be detailed, and Travis Scott announced a “Phase 1,” implying more to come.

With two months until release, it is reasonable to expect pre-orders to open, editions to be detailed and — if Rockstar follows its usual approach — a final wave of communication before November 19.
