Safehouses, customization and appearance in GTA 6

The short answer

GTA 6 safehouses are closer to Red Dead Redemption 2's camps than the apartments of previous GTA games: they are lively and interactive, and other characters can come and go. Jason and Lucia's appearance also changes according to your activities, not just your clothes.

Lively safehouses

▸Jason and Lucia can live together in the same safehouse, each following their own schedule.

▸Other characters can move through these locations. One of the safehouses shown actually belonged to someone other than the two protagonists.

▸These bases are far more interactive than the series' usual homes: for example, you can trim or shave your hair and beard directly at your safehouse. New hairstyles still require a trip to a salon or barber.

Personal vehicles and trunks

Each character can own several personal vehicles and distribute them across their different safehouses. Car trunks are functional: they let you store spare clothes and weapons.

This is more than a minor detail: completely changing your outfit is one of the most effective ways to lose the police once your description has been circulated (see Police and Criminal Profile).

Shops and salons throughout the world

As in previous GTA games, clothing shops and hair salons are scattered throughout the open world. A new feature: each establishment offers exclusive items and hairstyles, encouraging players to visit different businesses rather than always returning to the same one.

Your appearance changes with your habits

Jason and Lucia's appearance does not depend solely on cosmetics:

▸going to the gym increases muscle mass and strength;

▸overeating leads to weight gain;

▸food also remains an effective way to restore a large amount of health.
